Pale Sloppy Custard.

Hello my long suffering friends.  Janice and I are about to embark on another epic trip in our series of lifestyle travels.  I don't want to bore you with repeating our assertion that we are not on holiday but this is our lifestyle - our aim is to live at an equal cost to our living at home.

This trip will take us to the South of France.  Another area we haven't previously visited together.  Janice has been the Cote D'Azure previously but I haven't been to the French Mediterranean before.  We hope to see many of the sights but will be content to make up our journey as we see fit.  Any tips and suggestions will be welcome.

The title of the blog indicates that we are the 'Cream of England' and not pale, sloppy custard!  I think there may be a little bit of food included in the blog, as normal, as well as the touring, history and nonsense.

We hope to get some similar sunny weather in the French Autumn.  Join us again on our light hearted blog.  We set off in September and aim to come back in November.

  1. Bon voyage les Vernons! Will we have the pleasure of seeing you as you head down to the Côte d'Azure....or prehaps on your way back up?! PS the sun has done its disappearing act in Normandy for now......if you've still got it please stop hogging it and bring it back with you!

    1. Hi Sian, you will be mightily relieved to hear that we are taking the direct route south in search of that yellow coloured round thing in the sky that you have lost. You are having Rebekah for a visit in October and one Vernon is enough for anyone. We aren't sure about the return journey yet but will give you at least one day's notice of our arrival (joking, we will let you know in advance if we can fit in a visit). Love x

  2. Hi both, glad to hear you have made it safely over the channel and that you have finally found the sun.....
You have probably moved on south but if you have the chance, I hear that the Gorges de Verdon is well worth a visit -

Depending on which way you move back up the country (presumably on the west side) Rocamadour is highly recommended as is the Sarlat region in general - excellent walking (and eating!). Bordeaux is also very well worth a visit as of course is the wine area all around there. Arcachon bay is beautiful, and a walk up Europe's highest dune (dune du Pilat) is definitely worth the effort

    Voilà, a few ideas :)
