Gender Neutral!
Fri, Sat & Sun 8, 9, 10 September 2017.
Brother David was the first to correctly guess the mystery sweet. It was Colts Foot Rock, made in the wonderful Oswaldtwistle, Lancs. It has a lovely liquorice flavour but probably not too good for the teeth. Oli and Laura didn't know what it was.
We recently watched a documentary programme where a psychologist went to a school class of 7 year olds for a 6 week period. His task was to challenge equality stereotypes and try to encourage 'gender neutral' practices. Not surprisingly he found that the boys were over confident in comparison to their abilities and girls were more modest. Boys couldn't describe their emotions very well and the girls in contrast did much better. The programme sparked lots of discussion between us and as a result we have decided to have a gender neutral trip. Is that possible?
I have been doing the cooking and baking cakes and......
In contrast Janice has been sitting around, ordering me about and breaking wind!
I am also being a Queen for a day. We are not really being gender neutral, it's more like role reversal.....anyway, who cares I'm enjoying being in touch with my feminine side! There's nothing to it!
On Saturday morning Janice and I cycled via Harpenden to Hemel Hempstead and saw the start of the Tour of Britain cycle race. As normal with cycle race spectating we saw the riders for about 30 seconds but it was a good ride out and gives us an excuse to see towns and visit coffee shops.
On Sunday we visited Top Golf driving range.....
It was a scored competition where we aim for the target areas for points. What a good swing Janice has! Janice's son, James, won convincingly.
Then we got the train into London and visited the Natural History Museum.
The new Blue Whale skeleton in the entrance hall is spectacular. We visited several parts of the museum including the dinosaurs.....
We got back to St Albans before the rain set in and had a lovely stir fry for tea. We are now definately looking forward to getting over to France tomorrow in the hope of finding some good weather.
