Death by.....Gateaux.
LFriday 27th October 2017 - Apremont, Vendée.
I suppose by the fact that I am writing this blog you will know that the blog title is not 'Death by Mushrooms'. Tim's giant mushroom must have been totally edible because we didn't even have a dicky tummy.
I thought I would include this photo as a possible Christmas gift for young children. You can use it as a 'Pin the tail on the donkey' game and in the interests of clarity, the donkey is the animal on the right!
We drove to David and Wendy's house at Apremont. It was lovely to see them. We haven't visited for two years but we last saw them at our wedding in April. We were very much welcomed and we quickly settled in. We are staying in the house, so it will be the first time in over six weeks that we have slept in a proper bed! Very different.
David remembered the rugby song I mentioned yesterday and we could repeat some of the song lyrics so we had a fit of schoolboy giggles.
I am very naughty to tease Wendy, whose name is usually mispronounced by French people to sound like 'Windy' as the French don't have a W in the alphabet and use it only in words imported from other languages. I also tease her about relocating the kitchen. Wendy has admitted to wanting some alterations in the kitchen, a new oven and separate hob! I suggest that they might as well move the kitchen into a different room whilst they are making the changes and get it all done at the same time. David is not impressed! They moved into the house 10 years ago and have moved the kitchen three times, so I am disappointed to find it in the same place as our last visit.
We had a little walk around the village before we had our meal. We had salmon covered in a cream cheese, garlic and lemon with a crust of breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese. Lovely. We had white wine with the meal and it is the first time on the trio that we have had white wine. Up till now we have had only had rosé and red wine. Even better, Wendy had made a belated birthday cake for Janice.
On a more serious note (and I'm sorry for the connection) but Janice heard that her Uncle has passed away. So, she had to make some phone calls to her Dad and other relatives.
