Serious Jockin....no G.

Friday 6th October 2017 - Uzes.

We are having quite an extended stay near Uzes.  Yes, it's a nice town and the weather is good.

Uzes not only has the Haribo factory, it was famous for silk production (not any more) and it is famous for growing truffles but not in season till the winter.

It also has another interesting location....the National Haras!

Or to translate...the National Stud!!  Maybe not!

We sneaked into an event at the National Haras, there were studs on display and there was an event which was like a 'Point to Point' competition going on around the back roads and fields.  In fact they woke us up this morning coming along a road next to the campsite.

We had a cycling day around the nearby villages.  The first village was St Quentin la Poterie.  We coincided with market day and were persuaded to buy some figs and goats cheese.

Janice started to throw a few pots!  St Quentin was famous for mass producing floor tiles for the Palais de Papes at Avignon.

It's Janice's birthday tomorrow but she doesn't look a day over 53 does she.......

Nothing that a face pack can't put right.

Lots of ceramics here.  We had our packed lunch and did a few more villages and here are a few photos of our tour.

On the way back......

You can just make out a mountain in the distance, it's Ventoux.  It gives me shivers to think about it.

We had our curry lamb hot pot meal from the slow cooker when we returned.  It had been rather windy all day but still sunny and gorgeous.

When we were back we tuned into internet BBC Radio 2 and listened to Steve Wright who does 'Serious Jockin...no G' on a Friday afternoon.  We enjoyed it, we must be missing some British culture!  It's better than the Muppets'song that is played on Simon Mayo's Drivetime show every Friday!  In the evening we listened to Ken Bruce's pop master.  We will have to listen to the questions and then phone up to compete, hoping we can take advantage of the hour difference and get all the questions correct.

By the way, I'm sorry that there are no clouds on the photos.  I haven't air brushed them out.  That's just the way it is.
